Originally a figurative painter, during university Cassandra was challenged to try abstract and conceptual art practices. Her current body of work explores the concept of Synaesthesia, which is the crossing of senses where some people who hear music see colour. This form of Synaesthesia is called Chromesthesia. Being inspired by geometric abstraction, Cassandra creates paintings in morse code that tap out the lyrics to songs and combines them with carefully curated palettes to make works that have meaning and movement.
Born in Sydney, Cassandra completed a Master of Art majoring in Painting at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) UNSW, 2010. Her early days were always spent drawing, painting, jewellery making, printmaking, making sculptures or ceramics and creating in any modality possible.
Cassandra also works as a medical doctor.
