Artist’s Statement
Daniela Cristallo's art practice is anchored in contemporary abstract painting. Communication between natural environmental terrains and their register in bodily sensations become a resource that is transcribed on the painting plane. A constructed shorthand of mark making; colour, pace and texture become the organising principles of her abstraction and each plays a significant role in answering to the observations of place and feeling.
Biography
Daniela Cristallo (b.1977) is an Australian born contemporary abstract painter who lives and works from her home studio in Sydney NSW. Cristallo has been the recipient of numerous art awards as well as a finalist in a number of contemporary art prizes. She has participated in over 20 group exhibitions and recently completed a large body of work for a 2 person show in Melbourne.
