Lisa Ridgway

Lisa Ridgway

  • Artist’s Statement

A passionate cook and from a family of food lovers and chefs, food and fresh produce formed a great marriage for Lisa Ridgway's still life painting. Sharing food and entertaining family and friends became a subject Lisa wanted to celebrate. Seafood platters, cheese and fruit platters, freshly picked vegetables and even cocktails have become her subjects of choice.

Lisa's daughter, Katie is an accomplished chef in Sydney, and together they collaborate to produce the 'food-lovers' imagery that Lisa's paintings feature so successfully. Often, Lisa and Katie wander farmers markets and fish markets in Sydney, and particularly in Yamba, in search of inspiration and conversation. It is at these markets in Yamba that they converse with farmers and fishermen on the Clarence River, and draw ideas for potential dishes, and future paintings.
